KEF has opened an innovative Music Gallery in central London, fitted out with both its residential and CI loudspeaker ranges.

Part of a global KEF Experience program (it joins the KEF Music Gallery Hong Kong and KEF Music Gallery Tokyo), the new venue invites music enthusiasts, home cinema fans and the design curious to drop in and enjoy a variety of AV experiences.

“The idea is not to sell products, but to allow visitors to experience great Hi-Fi, perhaps for the first time,” says Grace Lo, KEF's President and Head of Global Marketing. Lo says the venue “illustrates our commitment to sharing the magic of great sound with consumers globally, and to provide our partners with a collaborative platform through which we can together deliver KEF's unique immersive high-fidelity experiences to a wider audience."

To that end, the Music Gallery also operates as a coffee shop, the KEFé - albeit one with a full Dolby Atmos sound system built in.

KEF says it also hopes retail partners will bring clients to experience the space, where uniquely they’ll be able to listen to the brand’s flagship Muon stereo speakers, as well as a full range of high-end home theatre speakers. In a variety of experiential zones guests will be encouraged to relax and listen; a host of streaming music and vinyl is available to audition.

The KEF Music Gallery is spread over two floors and covers 5,000 square feet. We paid a visit and can report there’s nothing quite like it in the Capital.

The space has been designed by architecture and interior design studio Conran and Partners. A contemporary environment with a residential feel, it offers a very different experience to a traditional audio showroom.

On the ground floor, there’s the high-fidelity café, where visitors can drink coffee and enjoy a wide mix of classic and contemporary music.

In the evening, The Gallery can transform into a space for immersive music events. This immersive destination will host listening parties, collaborative activations and events.

Adjacent to The Gallery is The Studio, a recording space based on the anechoic chamber at KEF's R&D centre in Maidstone. Engineered to minimise background noise, it can be used by content creators as a podcasting studio, recording space, or as an intimate listening room.

Downstairs is The Living Room, which is kitted out like a contemporary residential space. It offers music and movie demos, and is the ideal model for a modern media room. It’s also where you'll find The Ultimate Experience Room.

This high-end home theatre features KEF Muon speakers as well as Extreme Home Theatre Ci-Reference in-wall speakers and KEF subwoofers. We kicked back for some Top Gun Maverick, and didn’t want to leave.

The KEF Music Gallery London is located at 42-48 Great Portland Street, London. Appointments are not required to visit.
