Leading invisible speaker brand Amina Technologies has upgraded its flagship AIW750E Distributed Mode Loudspeaker (DML) with its first Excelsior class vibrational sound excitation device. The 25mm voice coil exciter is the first in what's promised to be a new generation of proprietary designs from the British plaster-in speaker specialist. Featuring a high power Neodymium magnetic engine with "truly exceptional magnetic flux control, power handling and efficiency," the upgrade excites specific frequency ranges for a smoother, extended (high frequency) response; power handling is also bolstered to 100W continuous/ 200W peak.

Amina says that this improved efficiency is the result of advanced computer modelling, allowing a higher acoustic output to be squeezed from the same amount of Neodymium magnet material.

The AIW750E is Amina's most powerful invisible speaker, with the widest bandwidth. Designed to sit beneath a 2mm plaster skim, this DML is typically used in high-end stereo and multichannel residential applications. The unit features two separate optimised panels fed via an external crossover; the provision of a smaller dedicated mid/high panel (pictured above left) delivers a highly detailed and open sound stage, while the larger low frequency panel (above right) increases bass extension.

The Evolution AIW750E is designed to be used in conjunction with the company's existing BackboxFS and BackboxFS-S200 in stud walls or ceilings. Installers have the option of bi-amping, and can also opt for DSP-based crossover solution as an alternative to the external passive crossover provided with the product, for greater dynamics.
