Yamaha confirms Dolby Atmos firmware for Aventage AVRs

Yamaha has announced a quartet of new Aventage AV receivers, including its first two Dolby Atmos capable models. The RX-A840, RX-A1040, RX-A2040 and RX-A3040 all have integrated Wi-Fi with Wireless Direct, along with Apple AirPlay, and support 4K 2160/60p. The Aventage line represent Yamaha's high performance aesthetic and utilise fully discrete power amplifiers, with an independent DAC power supplies, large heatsinks, ART Wedge stabilizing foot and aluminium front panel.

The RX-A840 is a 7.2 channel design, rated at 100w per channel (into 8ohms with two channels driven). It offers eight HDMI inputs, with two outputs and HDMI support for Zone B, plus a 12v trigger. The RX-A1040 ups the power output to 110w per channel.

Rxa 840blfrgbtkf _fThe RX-A2040 is a 9.2 channel AVR, with a quoted power output of 140w. The range-topping RX-A3040 is also a 9.2 design, but has processing and pre-outs for 11.2. Power output is rated at 150w p/c. Both support four zones of audio with HDMI to Zone B, and two 12v triggers. Yamaha says it will firmware update the RX-A2040 and RX-A3040 models with Dolby Atmos support in the autumn.

The new models retail for £900, £1000, £1500 and £2000 respectively. The brand has also announced a matching Blu-ray player, the BD-A1040,
