HD distribution specialist Wyrestorm has unveiled a new browser based AV control system called Enado, comprising a compact 1U 19-inch controller with 16 assignable IR ports and built-in Wi-Fi, and interface software. Christian Thomas, the brand's communications manager, says the launch "represents the future of audio video switching and source control, offering a perfect combination of intelligent operation and intuitive functionality."
Any device running a web browser can access the UI. One key advantage of this approach compared to offering a downloadable app, explains Thomas, is that there's immediately compatibility with all platforms; not just iOS and Android, but also Blackberry, Smart TVs and any Windows, Mac OS X or Linux platform. Thomas adds that Enado has been designed to improve the end-user experience when controlling Wyrestorm kit and connected AV and audio sources, rather than as rival for existing control protocols from AMX, Crestron, Control 4 and RTI.
Once the central control hardware has been installed and configured, the software can deliver HD to IP video streaming together with remote control functionality. "In short, it allows you to stream and control all your content from anywhere in the world with a wireless network connection." The system can also be extended to accommodate CCTV functionality and remote monitoring. There's little training required, either for dealers or users, adds Thomas. Dealers can also remote access any system to troubleshoot without actually having to undertake a field visit.
Thomas says "an early 2013 release" of Enado is on the cards.
