WyreStorm has added to its growing line of HDBaseT extenders with the EX-1UTP-IR-50-POH. The most affordable of WyreStorm's Power over HDBaseT (POH) extender solutions, it delivers Full HD and audio over 50m via a single Cat5e/6 cable. It joins the brand's 70m and 100m extenders, offering installers a cost effective solution when shorter signal distribution runs are required. Wyrestorm says the extender has been tested with 4k Ultra HD transmissions up to 35m.
The provision of PoH eliminates the need for a separate power supply at the receiving TV, while 2-way IR enables control of the source and TV. Built-in EDID settings manage any potential EDID conflicts. Integrators can choose from one of many internal, pre-set EDID's to best achieve the specific installation application. For example, achieving 7.1 DTS audio from an AVR is simplified as installers select the EDID on the EX-1UTP-IR-50-POH accordingly and the transmitter requests 7.1 audio directly from the source.
The compact chassis means the EX-1UTP-IR-50-POH can be mounted behind a flatpanel TV or close to a projector. Several units can be cascaded over Cat5e/6 cable to lengthen the transmission and increase distribution capabilities, if required. The company suggests it's suitable for both residential and light commercial applications, as well as hospitality and education facility projects.
The EX-1UTP-IR-50-POH is priced at $479 USD, with UK pricing to
be announced. It will be demonstrated by Wyrestorm at ISE 2014. For
