The eagerly anticipated HDBaseT amplifier from Wyrestorm is now shipping via Invision UK and Habitech. The AMP-001-010 (pictured above) is the first of a new breed of distribution product which combines the benefits of single wire HD, stereo audio and data with local Class D amplification. For multi-room entertainment installations, it's a potential game-changer.

Invision UK hails the product as "one of the most flexible and powerful applications of HDBaseT technology to date. ""For integrators, the big plus with WyreStorm's device is the flexibility it offers," explains Russell Hughes, sales specialist at Invision UK. "The design and installation of large distributed HDMI AV systems, whether residential or commercial, is now far simpler than ever before. Wyrestorm has done a brilliant job in making AV integration more efficient without compromising quality."

The AMP-001-010 is currently the only product that can extract stereo audio direct from the digital audio within the HDBaseT signal and amplify it locally, eliminating the need to mix digital and analogue audio formats, along with any costs associated with breakout boxes, converters and power supplies.

Wyrestorm CEO Derek Hulbert says, "This engineering feat allows our AMP to deliver uncompromised fidelity, control and configuration choices that enable it to be equally as adept when used as a single device in a small custom residential project or a system component within the largest commercial jobs."

A single Cat5e/6 cable is all that's needed between the source and amplifier. For basic, single-source installations, Full HD audio/video and control can be routed to the AMP-001-010 from a set top box, Blu-ray player or media server, via a an HDBaseT transmitter. Installers can connect local stereo speakers alongside an a HDMI output for the display, with full control of the Amp and source via IR or RS232.

In addition, the ARC (Audio Return Channel) capabilities of the device gives full access to audio from the connected smart TV, including YouTube and other streaming audio/video services. It's also possible to add audio from an additional source, like a personal media player or smartphone, via the AMP-001-010's 3.5mm auxiliary audio jack.

Using the AMP-001-010's HDBaseT-Lite output capabilities, installers can connect additional amplifiers at 70m intervals, enabling them to connect more speakers and displays, with each screen having access to the centralised AV input, as well as Audio Return Channel and local auxiliary audio inputs, plus each amplifier's local 2.1-channel audio outputs. Up to seven AMP-001-010's can be added to one network.
