Sony has updated its SXRD Full HD home cinema projector line with the VPL-HW45ES. The new model boasts improvements in brightness and contrast, over its predecessor, the VPL-HW40ES.
The new model, which continues with the familiar Sony HD chassis, features an upgraded lamp which Sony predicts will last up to 6,000 hours. Brightness is rated at 1,800 ANSI lumens brightness.
The VPL-HW45ES is 3D compatible, with an integrated RF 3D transmitter. It’s also possible to firmware update the projector via USB. Sony says the compact size of the VPL-HW45ES, with the front exhaust, covers “a wide range of installation opportunities.” The projector is available in traditional home theatre black or white, for media room installations.
“Following the success of the VPL-HW65ES and the exceptional feedback we received from our customers, we’ve included its technological prowess and ground breaking features into the new VPL-HW45ES, making a great cinematic experience better and more cost effective than ever,” said Thomas Issa, Product manager for Home Cinema projectors at Sony Europe.
The new VPL-HW45ES projector will be available in May 2016. According to distributor Marata Vision, the projector will be priced at £1850.
