Specialist Wi-Fi company Ruckus has introduced the ZoneFlex R710, a dual-band Wave2 802:11AC access point. Distribution is via Habitech.

The super compact R710 is a four-stream 802.11ac AP, designed to deliver reliability in high device density environments, and meet the data demands of multiple mobile Wi-Fi clients and data-hungry applications such as HD IP video streaming. It’s capable of supporting 500 clients.

The unit delivers 800 Mbps over 2.4GHz and 1.7 Gbps over 5GHz. Support for 802.11ac Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO) allows the R710 to transmit to multiple client devices simultaneously, improving airtime efficiency.

Four dual band smart antenna arrays effectively create over 4,000 unique directional antenna patterns, explains the brand, which are managed by Ruckus’ advanced BeamFlex+ smart antenna technology to provide a substantial increase in performance and range.

BeamFlex+ is said to reduce co-channel interference up to 50 per cent. Dual polarization antennas allow BeamFlex+ technology to adapt to the physical orientation of client devices and maximize uplink performance.

The ZoneFlex R710 has two Ethernet ports, one with 802.3af/at PoE. Currently, the R710 is the only Wave2 ac device that will operate over standard 802.3af PoE.

It is backward compatible with all existing Wi-Fi infrastructure, and can function either as a standalone AP or as part of centrally-managed Wireless LAN.
