Pioneer has announced a trio of low cost AV receivers, including its first with integrated GoogleCast and FireConnect multiroom audio support. The most interesting new addition to the range is the VSX-1131, a 7.1 channel offering, rated at 160w p/c (into 6Ohms) with support for both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. It retails for £550.
Bluetooth is onboard, and integrated Wi-Fi is dual band. Benath the lid is a new 384kHz/32 bit AK4458 DAC and support for multiroom audio, via the interoperable FireConnect standard. This functionality is planned via a firmware update. Pioneer will also be launching a range of FireConnect enabled speakers later this year. The brand has also updated its MCACC room calibration technology, building in support for Dolby Atmos enabled speakers.
HDMI inputs are HDCP 2.2 4K/60p/4:4:4compliant, and HDR ready. The receiver will also upscale HD sources to 2160p resolution. The AVR offers a powered second zone, and Zone 2 line out.
Supporting the VSX-1131 is the SX-831 (pictured above), a £450 5.1 130w p/c Wi-Fi receiver, offering 4K HDCP 2.2 HDMI support, priced at £450. Budget buyers are offered the stripped back VSX-531 at £300.
