Niles reckons its new MRC-6430 multi-room audio controller is the friendliest multi-zone proposition in town. This expandable six-source, six-zone audio controller is powered by Niles Auriel software and has built-in two-way control drivers for popular music systems, including Sonos and Autonomic. Users can browse, search and view full song metadata and album art, as well as access streaming services like Spotify and TuneIn Radio. Distribution is via Invision UK.

The Auriel MRC-6430 can be driven with a handheld remote, seven-button keypad, a selection of touch panel devices and popular mobile devices through the accompanying iOS and Android apps. The interface renders identically across all devices enabling simple and convenient control by all. Users can listen to multiple streams of any source, in any room, at any time. There are also six routable IR outputs for external component control. Amplification is rated at 30w for each zone driven. All zones feature their own bass, treble and volume settings which can be adjusted directly from the Auriel interface. Using the optional Niles DBI-2 interface, it's also possible to route doorbell chimes through the system, temporarily muting any music playing.

Set up is said to be fast and intuitive. Through the Auriel wizard and a tablet or PC, installers are prompted to configure the system for sources, zone preferences, user interface customisation and home theater control. For larger projects, two MRC-6430s can be paired to create a six-source, 12-zone system. Zones are equipped with fixed or variable pre-outs, for additional amplification.

"With the MRC6430 Niles are making multiroom audio more simple than ever to install and use," explains product specialist David Meyerowitz. "The perception of end users is that multiroom audio controllers are maybe too complicated. This is where the Auriel software shows just how accessible it can be." Meyerowitz notes the controller is ideally suited to MDU and multiroom audio installations, and uses a standard head end wiring configuration. "Auriel is wizard-based to reduce installation and set-up time to a fraction of other multi-room systems," he adds.
