Yamaha has released a battalion of new DLNA compatible AirPlay-enabled AV receivers under the RX-V75 banner. Replacing last year's RXV-73 models, the RX-V475 (£350) and RX-V575 (£450) are available this month, with the RX-V675 (£500) and RX-V775 (£650) following in June. All feature the brand's trademark CinemaDSP processing with additional 'presence' channels. Interestingly the latter two models also offer installers the option of virtual surround when no rear speakers connected.

The RX-V675, which has been 'UK tuned', includes 4K video upscaling and six HDMI inputs, while the RX-V775 which adds a second HDMI output. Quoted power output per channel rises from 115W to 150W on the RX-V675 and £160W on the RX-V775.  Both receivers also incorporate Virtual Dialogue and Virtual Dialogue Level technologies, designed to clarify on-dialogue within busy content. Integrators who have clients that complain they can't make out what folks are saying in modern movies, take note.

MHL connectivity for playing back 1080p video content from mobile devices is standard across the line. Also due in June is the RX-V500D (£650), which features a built-in DAB Tuner.

All the new AVRs can be driven by the brand's AV Controller app for iOS and Android. While there is no integrated Bluetooth in the range, the brand says it will offer the aptX YBA-11 plug-in receiver this summer. Models can also be used with the brand's currently available Wi-Fi dongle. Potentially useful for installers, the £80 USB YWA-10 allows the AVRs to sit on a wireless network. The device also has an Ethernet connector, allowing other networked devices to be added. The AV receivers are available in black or titanium finishes.
