Yamaha has announced a new line of high-end Aventage AV receivers: the 7.2 channel RX-A670 ; 7.2 RX-A870; 7.2 RX-A1070; 9.2 RX-A2070 and 9.2 (expandable to 11.2) RX-A3070 (pictured below). All feature MusicCast wireless streaming and have both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio support.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Airplay are standard. Bluetooth transmission technology allows listeners to pair Bluetooth headphones for private listening.
The MusicCast system integrates streaming services such as Spotify and Qobuz, with Tidal and Deezer coming via a firmware update. MusicCast is available on “close to” 50 devices in Yamaha’s product range.
DAB/DAB+ radio is standard on every AVR from the RX-A670.
Yamaha has also developed a new CinemaDSP mode called ‘Enhanced’ for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X soundtracks, which it says “increases precision and spatial representation of the sound field.” It’s available from the RX-A1070 and above. Those same models will also sport an upgraded version of YPAO room calibration, which offers 64-bit accuracy.
Yamaha says the range is fully compliant with HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR formats and “will receive a firmware update for HLG technology later in 2017.” The AVRs also have Yamaha’s Scene functionality, a bank of presets that combine inputs with CinemaDSP modes, volumes and other settings.
192 kHz 24 Bit hi-Res Audio support includes hi-res audio files in WAV, FLAC and AIFF, 96 kHz 24 bit in ALAC format and 5.6MHz DSD files. To stress its audiophile chops, the flagship RX-A3070 also features an XLR balanced stereo input (pictured abovet.
Retail prices have yet to be released. The range will be released between July and September.
