German Hi-Fi specialist T+A has announced the latest preamplifier in its high-end HV series, the P 3100 HV.
While it looks cosmetically like its predecessor, the P 3000 HV, the new model boasts a number of performance boosting innovations. Preamplifiers are key to the success of an overall Hi-Fi system, insists the manufacturer. Connected source devices deliver low-level signals to the preamplifier’s input section, which the pre-amp switches and amplifies. All without altering or falsifying signals content.
Like all components of the HV series, the new P 3100 HV boasts a fully symmetrical construction. The preamplifier section features a re-designed circuit board layout, alongside an improved digital power supply and beefed up toroidal transformer, now increased to 115 VA.
In the previous model, the input and output stages were coupled to the relay volume control with high-quality capacitors. The circuit board layout of the P 3100 HV eliminates the need for these coupling capacitors, simplifying the signal path between the input stage, volume control and output stage. The result, says T+A, are significant sound improvements.
The new P 3100 HV has a retail price of £12,690. UK distribution is via Coventry-based Kog Audio.
