Toshiba is now shipping its WK3 range of ‘hands-free’ small screen TVs, with Alexa voice assistance built-in. Offered in 24 and 32-inches, the (WK3A63DB) sets are the first TVs released to the UK market with a far field microphone embedded in the bezel, meaning users can talk to Alexa hands-free. Retail prices start at £179.
Smart TV functionality includes being able to turn the TV on and off, change channels and volume, access weather forecasts and travel information and set timers, all without needing to pick up a remote.
The sets may be small, but they’re not short on functionality. Freeview Play support ensures a full complement of Catch-Up TV players, (BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4), along with UKTV Play, CBS Catchup Channels UK and Horror Bites.
The Toshiba suggests the models for kitchen or bedroom use, allowing users to control the TV without using their wet or dirty hands, or while completing assorted household chores.
“Voice control is the fascination of millions around the UK,” Bart Kuijten, Commercial Director at Toshiba UK says. “At Toshiba we want to offer our customers an incredible seamless smart home experience by offering our customers intelligent and responsive technology to fit into their increasingly connected, smart home ecosystems. The WK3 is a fantastic proposition for our customers, the Alexa embedded technology takes voice activation to a new level for our customers.”
