Technics has taken the wraps off its first Reference Class integrated amplifier, the SU-R1000. The high-end two channel digital amplifier aims to blend the precision and accuracy of digital audio technologies with the smooth warmth usually associated with analogue models, using advanced signal processing and DA conversion to combat jitter and distortion.
The SU-R1000 Technics features newly developed ADCT (Active Distortion Cancelling Technology), in addition to proprietary technologies such as LAPC and JENO. The ADCT eliminates distortion generated in the power stage.
The amplifier also sees the adoption of a new switching power supply system, Advanced Speed Silent Power Supply, to improveS/N ratio. Four independent power supply units provided for different circuit blocks maximise separation and dynamic sound reproduction.
Arguably the most interesting new technology in the SU-R1000 can be found in the phono stage. The SU-R1000 is equipped with an Intelligent Phono EQ, which utilises digital technology to achieve a more accurate equaliser curve, reducing the crosstalk from the cartridge and enhancing the frequency characteristic determined by the matching of the cartridge and phono equaliser, aided by a special calibration vinyl disc that comes together with the amplifier.
The Technics SU-R1000 ships in November 2020, with an anticipated price of £8,000.
