Tascam has announced a professional-grade 4k UHD Blu-ray/media/network player, for commercial installations and touring applications that require ultra-high definition visuals and up to 7.1 surround sound.
The rack-mount unit saves space by eliminating the need for discrete AV playback devices in an installation. It accepts a broad range of media and file formats from discs (Blu-ray, DVD, CD), USB flash devices, SD cards or network shares on a NAS or remote server through Gigabit Ethernet.
For those installing an integrated media system, the BD-MP4K offers IP network and RS-232C control, the latter enabling seamless two-way control between devices with status feedback. Gigabit Ethernet simplifies integration into larger systems with mutual control between components.
In addition to remote operation, all playback functions can be accessed locally from the front panel when required.
There are also separate lock features for panel, tray and IR remote control to prevent accidental changes or non-authorised use. A power-on playback feature enables content to automatically begin playing immediately on powering up the system.
The Tascam BD-MP4K will be available in the UK from January 2021, and will retail for £579.
