Improved bass performance, upgraded Auro-3D and Roon end-point integration are amongst the improvements offered in the latest firmware update from StormAudio, for its MK2 and MK1 home theatre processors.
The firmware will also come pre-installed in every StormAudio Immersive Sound Processor (ISP) MK2 device.
Headquartered out of France, the company says firmware 4.0 will be the first to enable Dirac Live’s new advanced bass management add-on module, Dirac Live Bass Control.
Other key new features include a redesigned Speaker Configurator for more flexible configuration possibilities, with more intuitive user interface, and integration of the Roon music management system.
Firmware 4.0 also supports Dolby Atmos layouts of up to 13.1.10, and additional screen center, rear surround, front and rear height channels. Dolby Enabled upfiring speakers can now also be configured and managed with this new firmware version.
Auro Technologies has also made some improvements to its Auro-3D codec, uniquely available in StormAudio’s Firmware 4.0. The new codec can analyse the speaker layout installed, and will now make use of the rear channels in the layout when playing back native Auro-3D 9.1/11.1 content. Also updated is the Auro-Matic upmixing algorithm, with more refined dialogue management from stereo sources.
StormAudio says DTS:X Pro capability will be added in the next upgrade of the Firmware 4.0, planned in the upcoming months, along with StormAudio Expert Bass Management.
StormAudio is the first brand to implement the Advanced Dirac Live Bass Control module, which uses machine learning to optimise system bass response for all installed speakers and subwoofers. An advanced algorithm allows for smoother bass reproduction across the crossover area.
Firmware 4.0 ican be downloaded for free via the Client Portal on the StormAudio website.
