Sky’s eagerly anticipated Netflix union has gone live on Sky Q today. The update allows Sky and Netflix customers to unify their viewing experience, with Netflix shows fully integrated into the Sky Q UI. The platform will recommend shows from both pay providers, and allow subscribers to integrate their subscriptions.

The new service is available as the Sky Ultimate On Demand subscription pack. This also includes access to Sky Box Sets, currently said to comprise 500 UK and US series, such as Patrick Melrose, Save Me and Tin Star, plus HBO’s Game of Thrones and Showtime’s Billions.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is how deeply integrated the partnership is. This isn’t a case of just accessing a Netflix app in a silo, it’s a far deeper level of integration.

Users can access Netflix original dramas, films, comedies and documentaries, including The Crown, . Making a Murderer and Queer Eye, directly from the Sky Q home page. Sky Q’s smart search function works across both services.

We had a preview of the service before it went live. You can read that here:

The Ultimate On Demand package will be £10 a month for new and existing customers alongside their Sky Q subscription, and with a 31-day rolling contract available. Existing Sky Q customers with Netflix can move their account to the new pack or sign in to the Netflix app on Sky Q using their existing Netflix account details.

Customers with a Sky Q Entertainment subscription will get Netflix’s Standard plan (two HD streams) and Sky Box Sets in HD as part of Ultimate On Demand. Viuewers with Sky Q’s premium subscription, Sky Q Experience (multi-room viewing and Ultra HD), will get Netflix’s Premium plan (Ultra HD, and four streams).
