Sky has announced a pop-up Sci-Fi movie channel. Starting September 9 for one month only, viewers On Demand and on NOW TV, will have access to the Star Wars franchise, all 10 original Star Trek movies, and Spielberg’s Close Encounters of The Third Kind and Minority Report, to name just a few SF classics.
Ahead of the theatrical release of Blade Runner 2049, the channel will also feature the theatrical version of Ridley Scott's iconic Blade Runner, as well as a special programme looking ahead to the new film.
Sky Cinema Group Director, Ian Lewis, commented: “Sky Cinema Sky-Fi is another innovative offering for our customers bringing the sci-fi genre to life, re-affirming our position as the UK and Ireland's leading in-home movies service."
The channel is the latest themed offering from the broadcaster, and follows on from Sky Cinema Oscars in February to Sky Cinema Fast and Furious in April.
