Simaudio has launched the Moon 600i v2 integrated amplifier. A successor to the original 600i, the company says the second generation model offers increased resolution and better bass articulation due to the upgrades in the power supply and gain stages. The new amp features a differential dual-mono design, and an M-eVOL2 volume control, which boasts 530 steps for precise level of adjustment.

A ‘no overall feedback’ design, the amp is rated at 2 x 125W. A custom proprietary toroidal transformer design is optimised for speed and dynamics. The heatsinks and front panels have been tooled from a single aluminium block in Simaudio’s Canadian factory, while the capacitors have been custom made in Japan, as part of the development of its huge Moon 888 mono power amp.

Each line input is fully configurable to be ‘home-theatre ready’, where the gain section of the 600i is bypassed. There’s also an RS-232 port, IR input for external control and a 12 volt trigger output for remote operation. It can also be integrated with other compatible Moon components, using a SimLink controller port.

The Moon 600i v2 retails for £6,900.
