Italian manufacturer SIM2 has introduced a versatile high brightness projector for larger media rooms. The all-black SIRIO is a single-chip Active Shutter 3D DLP design powered by a dual 350W lamp system, which means it can deliver images up to 6,000 ANSI lumens and 6,000:1 contrast. Not only does this make it ideal for larger screen sizes, but it can also be deployed in spaces where there's relatively high ambient lighting.
Alan Roser, managing director of SIM2 UK, says that model solves some of the real world challenges that face custom installers. "With SIRIO you can have large images in ambient lighting without the screen reflections typical of flat panels," he says. "It can deliver a big picture that can disappear when not in use and provide a wealth of customisation and calibration options that are just not possible on a screen, all optimised for both day-time and night-time viewing."
The new model similarly offers a high level of installation flexibility. In addition to the fixed 0.77:1 lens, there are four additional lenses covering a throw range of 1.21-6.97:1, plus horizontal and vertical motorised optical shift. Memory positions on the shift, zoom and focus settings allow for easy anamorphic projection without external lenses.
The projector even comes with a choice of two colour wheel options - SIM2Color and SIM2Shine. Installers specify which depending on whether colour or brightness is a priority for the project. To further aid set up, the unit ships with SIM2's advanced Live Colours Calibration 2.0 software, which enables complete adjustment of the primary, secondary and white point colour coordinates. The projector can be integrated with automation systems, IP control and remote monitoring and serviceability; it sports an Ethernet RJ-45 connector and a USB port hosting a dedicated USB-wireless adaptor.
The SIRIO retails at £19,995 for the standard lens option. For more on this new model visit Sim2 UK online.
