Sharp has announced the world’s largest commercially available video wall display. The 70-inch PN-V701 video wall display is the latest addition to the brand’s PN-V range, typically used by high end retailers and transport hubs. The bigger size of the PN-V701 effectively reduces the number of displays required for a large wall, and therefore the number of bezels that interrupt a picture. By way of example, to make a 3m wall, only three 70-inch displays in portrait orientation are required, compared to four 55-inch displays in landscape orientation.
The Full-HD screen uses Sharp’s UV2A and Advanced UCCT (Uniform Colour Calibration) technologies. This calibration technique combats several problems that affect standard video walls, by eliminating colour and brightness variations in each pixel to ensure consistent images across the whole display.
The PN-V701 is also the first of Sharp’s new generation video wall displays to feature a built-in Mini OPS extension slot, for easier integration into a wider range of user applications. An optional HDBaseT module provides a simple solution to long distance signal cabling between the display and HDMI devices, as well as power supply units, which is useful for shop window displays.
