Sharp went big on UHD screens at IFA 2018. The TV brand has pledged to push large 4K TVs at IFA 2018, and has shown a range of 8K models in 60-, 70-, and 80-inch screen sizes. However only the largest 8K model is currently expected to launch.
The 70-inch LC-70UI9362E and LC-70UI7652E models are the largest 4K UHD LED LCD TVs yet from the brand. The LC-70UI9362E features an edge LED backlight; the display measures just 9.2mm. The LC-70UI7652E uses direct LED lighting, for high contrast local dimming. The LC-70UI7652E and LC-70UI9362E both launch in October, priced at 1,499 euros and 1,799 euros respectively.
They will be joined by two 60-inch models, the edge-lit LC-60UI9362E and direct LED LC-60UI7652E, priced at 899 Euros and 1,099 Euros respectively.
All four 4K screens will feature a sound system designed by Harman Kardon. The models sport three HDMI inputs, 2 USB inputs, and an SD card reader with 4K content support. HDR10 support is standard. However only the UI9 series support Wide Colour Gamut (UI9 series).

The 80-inch 8K 8T-C80AX1, scheduled for 2019, will feature Sharp’s newly developed high brightness UV2A II LCD panel and a newly developed image processor able to upscale 4K UHD and 2K Full-HD content. A detection algorithm defines the number of image points and upscales them to the extra-fine pixel grid of 8K models.
Earlier this year, Sharp introduced the LV-70X500E 8K monitor TV at the IFA GPC.
Sharp has also partnered with Italian Design House Pininfarina, to produce a range of designer TV and audio products, including a soundbar, all-in-one system and portable Bluetooth speaker.
