The UK’S first 802.11ax AP, the Ruckus Networks R750, will make its debut at Habitech’s upcoming 10G networking event.
This indoor Wi-Fi Access Point is designed for ultra-dense residential and commercial client environments, and is Wi-Fi 6 certified. The R750 will support device speeds approaching four times that of its predecessor Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac).
Expected to be a mainstream Wi-Fi standard by 2021, the Wi-Fi 6 protocol is able to accommodate many more devices simultaneously, at speeds approaching 10 Gbps.
It supports a larger and more diverse set of client devices including applications such as 4K video streaming and AR/VR, as well as IoT devices requiring low power and low latency. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) technology is used to organise traffic frequencies into subcarriers boosting network capacity, with MU-MIMO support for simultaneous client data transmissions upstream to APs, as well as downstream to devices.
In addition to support for 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, the AP is more efficient, as device radios are online for shorter periods. By harnessing the R750’s Wi-Fi 6 capabilities, UK integrators are able to optimise future-ready network capacity for tclients today, dramatically improving the speed and integrity of simultaneous high density connectivity while integrating advanced Wi-Fi WPA3 security.
The R750 i offers eight spatial streams (4x4:4 in 5GHz, 4x4:4 in 2.4GHz), 3.5 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) aggregate throughput and embedded Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Zigbee radios.
Through collaboration with the Wi-Fi Alliance, the Ruckus R750 AP was one of the first products in the test bed for interoperability certification. Ruckus was also involved with the original specification and testing, and helped spearhead efforts to get the standard finalised and released.
The R750 will be joined by the latest Ruckus’ 10G switch range and other ultra-fast networking intros at TechFest 10G, which will be held at Basingstoke January 21-22. CI pros can register for Techfest 10G here.
