R.E.M reissue Automatic For The People in Dolby Atmos for Deluxe Anniversary Edition

R.E.M. has announced a 25th anniversary release for the multiplatinum Automatic For The People in a variety of formats, including a Deluxe Anniversary Edition mixed in Dolby Atmos.

Remastered from the original analogue tapes by Stephen Marcussen, the Anniversary and Deluxe Anniversary editions of the landmark album will launch on November 10. The four disc Deluxe Anniversary Edition will include previously unreleased material, including 20 never-before-heard demos from the LP’s sessions, including the fully-realised, unreleased track Mike’s Pop Song and Devil Rides Backwards. The fourth disc will feature the original album and bonus track Photograph, remixed in Dolby Atmos, plus a Hi-Res Audio version, seven music videos and the original 1992 electronic press kit video.Since its first release in 1992, Automatic has sold over 18 million copies worldwide. Hits singles from the album include Everybody Hurts and Man on the Moon.

Also included in both the 25th Anniversary and Deluxe editions of the album is a full live set from Live At The 40 Watt Club 11/19/92. Performed in R.E.M.’s hometown of Athens, GA. The Deluxe Edition comes in a 12-inch lift-top box and features an all-new 60-page book, with never-before-seen photos by Anton Corbjin and Melodie McDaniel.

“Working with Dolby, Universal Music, the band and the original production team behind Automatic, we have rejuvenated this classic album into an entirely new entertainment experience with Dolby Atmos,” says Sig Sigworth, President of Craft Recordings.

Automatic’s original producer Scott Litt and engineer Clif Norrell returned to oversee the album’s Dolby Atmos remix. In addition, the album also contains the bonus track Photograph, featuring Natalie Merchant, mixed in Dolby Atmos. The Atmos version was mixed at UMG’s Capitol Studios in Hollywood, California.

Automatic for the People will also be reissued in180-gram vinyl.
