Primare has announced that its Prisma-enabled products with Chromecast built-in are now compatible with Roon. Roon Labs recently announced that its Roon music player software can now stream to Google Home smart speakers and Chromecast audio receivers.

“We have been looking forward to this for some time,” says Terry Medalen, Primare Marketing. “It confirms our belief in Chromecast built-in as one of the most effective ways for us to achieve our goal of providing the best possible experience for the greatest number of people to explore, discover, and share music.

Prisma models now allow playback of files and Tidal (including Masters/MQA files) from Roon up to Chromecast’s bandwidth limit of 24/96kHz, once the Prisma product to the network by way of the Google Home application.

Primare says it will continue working toward the goal of providing full Roon and MQA functionality in upcoming modules for Prisma products.

Prisma is Primare’s new whole-home control and connectivity solution. The platform offers network playback from stored and streamed media, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices, as well as multi-zone connectivity and control.

Primare recently introduced its I35 Prisma integrated amplifier/network player and CD35 Prisma CD/network player.

The I35 Prisma amplifier (which retails for £4,000) is the first to use the new UFPD 2 power system, a reworking of Primare’s UFPD all-analogue Class-D technology. It offers 2 x 150 watts (into 8 ohms) , has a balanced analogue input option, and features a DAC stage enabling PCM 768kHz and DSD 256 conversion.

The partnering CD35 Prisma CD player introduces all-new DAC stage, featuring the ESS Sabre chipset. It sells for £2900.

Distribution is via Karma-AV. For more news stories about Karma-AV’s product portfolio, visit our resource page here.
