PMC UK is launching a performance check service for customers equipment. The group, responsible for UK sales and support of PMC, Bryston and AVM electronics, is offering PMC’s trained engineers to examine and service those brands.

The PMC performance check promises that every piece of equipment leaving the PMC workshop complies with the product’s expected performance levels. The service cost is £99, which includes return shipping to the customer within the UK.

The initiative is aimed at those who have purchased second hand, are thinking of selling their equipment or simply want to keep their Bryston, AVM, PMC electronics in prime condition.

“We have, over the years, received a number of products into the service department that are in need of some TLC,” explains Ian Sutton, divisional director for PMC UK Distribution. “With such complicated and precision pieces of electronics it is important that any servicing is carried out by trained technicians. Our new performance check service provides exactly that and the peace of mind that comes with knowing the product is performing to its optimum.”

To book a service check, owners should contact PMC for authorisation and send their product direct, or via their retailer. Upon receipt, technicians will carry out a series of performance checks and notify of any advisory corrective work. Checks will include the removal of internal dust and obstructions; a visual inspection for suspected component degradation; switches, potentiometers and internal contacts cleaned; relay functionality; capacitor condition; wiring loom integrity; terminal, casework, general component and transformer fixings security and an external inspection and clean.

Before returning to the customer, PMC says it will ensure the item is performing within expected parameters for frequency response; signal to noise; distortion and bias adjustment. A final listening test with PMC’s standard test programme material will be carried out.

Each serviced product will be issued with a certificate, verifying the work has been carried out alongside any advisory notes that the technicians feel the customer should be aware of.
