Orbitsound has expanded its spatial stereo Airsound range with a wireless speaker and soundbar, the ONE P70W V2. Using the same transconductance amplification technology heard in its high-end Air D1 sound system, the new multipurpose model retails for £399.
Orbitsound’s proprietary Airsound audio processing creates a spatial stereo sound from a single enclosure. Central and non-central information in the stereo image is split, in order to radiate the latter from side-firing drivers. There is no traditional audio sweet spot.
The speaker utilises top- and front-firing 51mm MK4 drivers, with two identical side-firing drivers handling Airsound audio information. A low-profile 5.25in integrated subwoofer adds bass weight.
Transconductance allows the amplifier to monitor and adapt to the behaviour of the speaker drivers in real time, for low distortion and improved dynamics.
In addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, there’s also an optical connection for connection to a TV, and 3.5mm analogue stereo input.
The ONE P70W V2 can be placed on AV furniture, on a shelf, or wall-mounted. There are two separate wall-mounting orientations, depending on whether it’s mounted high or low.The speaker ships with its own remote control, which can also learn TV IR codes.
Orbitsound stresses that the ONE P70W V2 isn’t solely a soundbar solution. It can also be used as a multiroom speaker, alongside the company’s other wireless speakers.
The ONE P70W V2 shuts down when not in use, powering up automatically when a signal is detected. Design and cosmetic finish are high. The speaker is available in black or bamboo finishes.
