Optoma is now shipping its ProScene HQView320 and HQView520 image scalers, produced in association with lauded British specialists Calibre UK. The processors were first showcased as part of the brand's ProScene roadshow earlier this year. Optoma Europe says the solutions have been "engineered to streamline and simplify edge blending and warping projects." Earlier this year, Calibre won a Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade sector for its outstanding export performance with image scaler/processor products.
The image scalers join the brand's ProAV projector range, which includes the high brightness EX855 and EW865 models, and the WUXGA EH7500.
Designed to be used with a ProScene projector, the HQView320 and HQView520 can edge-blend multiple curved images seamlessly across almost any surface. By working closely with Calibre, Optoma believes it now offers the most accessible edge-blending solution available. Specially developed presets match each of Optoma ProScene projectors, thereby greatly reducing complexity and setup time.
Optoma will provide a dedicated ProAV post-sale service team to troubleshoot blending projects. Justin Halls, head of product management for Optoma Europe guarantees that if a problem does arise during setup, the ProScene support network is available to help: "We provide a single point of support for the entire blending and warping projection project."
Both new scalers feature a Reon video processor from IDT, and use HQV algorithms. Input support covers HDMI, DVI, Component and VGA, while outputs include HDMI and DVI. The step-up, rack-mountable HQView 520 adds 3G-SDI input and output connectivity with backwards compatibility with HDSDI and SDSDI. A Genlock input is provided for studio/staging.
Both models include four-sided soft edge blend for seamless blending of multiple projectors, plus flexible geometry correction functions to adjust image shape and projector alignment. Full warp mapping is supported. To aid with image warp map creation, as well as third-party generated warp maps, a PC application is included in the package.
