Optoma has introduced a high-brightness Ultra Short throw HD projector for home use. The HD31UST which can project a 100-inch image from a distance of just 30cm.

An evolution of its GT5000+ UST model, the HD31UST is a 3,400 lumens Full HD 1080p with vertical and horizontal keystone and four corner geometric adjustment. If the projector isn't centred directly in front of the surface, an auto vertical keystone feature can detect and correct the distorted image, automatically.

Connectivity includes two HDMI and two VGA inputs. There’s also a USB port to power an HDMI dongle, such as Google Chromecast or Amazon Fire. The projector also works with Optoma’s WHD200 wireless transmitter, able to stream HD video up to 20 metres in any room. The HD31UST also incorporates a 16W sound system, but also has an audio output connector for connection to external sound systems.

The HD31UST retails for £1,150. Optoma also sells a 100-inch ambient light rejecting screen, the ALR100, for use with its UDT models.

“The unrivalled set-up convenience of our high brightness, ultra-short throw HD31UST creates an exceptional 100-inch Full HD experience that can be placed directly in front of a wall or screen for permanent use, tidied away after occasional use or taken around to a friend’s house,” says Kishan Mistry, Senior Product Manager at Optoma EMEA.
