Optoma has unveiled the UHZ65, its first 4K UHD laser home cinema projector to use DLP XLR (eXpanded Pixel Resolution) technology. XPR uses hyper-fast mirror switching to project an image of 8.3 million pixels from 4.15 million mirrors. Optoma says the projector complies with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) requirements for 4K UHD and High Dynamic Range (HDR) standards.

Laser illumination provides consistent brightness, enhanced colour performance, instant On and a life span of up to 20,000 hours. Optoma suggests that the projector’s Reference mode reproduces 80 per cent DCI-P3 colour spectrum.

Brightness is rated at 3000 lumens and a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. PureMotion frame-interpolation technology is provided to combat motion blur and image judder.

Installation aids include vertical lens shift and a 1.6x zoom. There are two HDMI ports, one of which is HDCP 2.2 compliant. There’s an onboard 8W sound system, plus a digital optical audio output.

Control options include 12v trigger, RS232 and an RJ45 LAN connection. The UHZ65 weighs 9.5kg.

Kishan Mistry, Senior Product Manager at Optoma EMEA, said: “Ultra High Definition coupled with laser technology delivers a truly spectacular experience for film fanatics, and the addition of the UHZ65 to our home range offers the ultimate in home projection.”
