Bang & Olufsen has announced a new generation of its iconic Beoplay A9 speaker. While it looks similar to its predecessors, the new Beoplay A9 features a number of significant upgrades.
These include support for Google Assistant, and the introduction of Active Room Compensation, which tailors performance to its surroundings. Significantly, the new model also boasts two additional full range drivers on the back, giving seven in total. There’s also been an upgrade in its streaming engine, for better connectivity when it comes to Chromecast and Apple Airplay 2.
There’s also a subtle cosmetic change. The new Beoplay A9 comes with a decorative fabric cord. Finishes include white with oak legs, black with black walnut legs, a bronze tone special edition and a brass tone special edition.
Originally designed in 2012, the wireless home speaker can either stand on three wooden legs or hang on a wall. To control the speaker, users need only slide their hand across its surface to adjust volume or tap to skip, play and pause.
The new edition of the A9 will be available in Bang & Olufsen stores and select retailers from the May 14. It retails for £2,250.
