Monitor Audio has introduced a new BluOS-powered music streamer for custom install. The IMS-4 can stream to four separate zones, with the BluOS Controller app offering access to music services, connected music libraries and voice control through a networked smart device.
Multiple IMS-4 Music Streamers can also be integrated with other BluOS devices to provide up to 64 zones of music, with each zone performing in sync or playing different streams to different zones.
There’s Hi-Res Audio up to 24-bit/192kHz to every room in a home network and, through BluOS, IMS-4 will also stream Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) recordings. Other supported File Formats include MP3, AAC, WMA, WMA-L, OGG Vorbis, FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF.
It’s also Apple Airplay 2 compatible. Siri allows users to request any tracks they want to hear and the room they would like it to be played in. Like BluOS, Apple AirPlay 2 lets the music be enjoyed separately or in sync through multiroom.
The IMS-4 takes up 1U of rack space and has analogue and digital (4 x optical, 4 x coaxial) inputs, which allow the addition of a cable box or other non-network sources to make them available in each zone. The IMS-4 also includes a system interrupt to let doorbells and fire alarms be heard.
Integrators should note that Monitor Audio recommends the IMS-4 is partnered with an installation amplifier such as its IA150-8C. Integrated with Crestron, Control4 and RTI, the IMS-4 is compatible with other BluOS enabled devices.
