Monitor Audio will use the upcoming Munich High End audio exhibition to showcase its new Studio loudspeaker. The stylish model benefits from trickle down technology from the brand’s flagship Platinum PL500 II, and introduces a new compact grille-less design. The approach not only looks stylish, it grants unfettered access to the two metallic-silver RDT II speaker cones. A honeycomb tweeter cover and bespoke solid-metal logo add a design flourish.
The Studio is available in a satin black, white or grey finish. Monitor Audio is also selling a bespoke floor stand (pictured above) for the range.
The Studio’s dual 4-inch drivers have been tweaked to produce bass, as well as mid-range detail. The RDT II cones are housed in a bespoke cast polymer chassis, to improve rigidity minimise distortion.
An MPD (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) high frequency transducer, which works like a turbo-charged accordion, promises a smooth, wide response, and crisp detail. The drivers are surrounded and clamped by a rigid die-cast aluminium sub-baffle for better rigidity.
The company has chosen hi-grade Polypropylene film capacitors, air-core and laminated steel-core inductors to preserve signal integrity. This purist electrical chain terminates with the same Rhodium plated terminals developed for the Platinum II Series. The cabinet itself is tuned using two rear mounted HiVe II slot ports mounted at the top and bottom of the cabinet. The large port surface area prevents turbulence and air noise.
Monitor Audio will be exhibiting the Studio in Hall 3, on stand J06/K09. The demo room setup will feature a pair of white Studios and a veritable orchestra of Roksan components: Radius turntable and Nima tonearm with Corus2 cartridge, Caspian RPP phono stage, Caspian integrated amp, Caspian CD player and K3 DAC.
Visitors will see all three variations of the Studio speakers, as well as the Silver 50, Silver 100, Silver 200, Silver 300, Silver FX models, Monitor 50, Monitor 100, Monitor 200, Monitor 300, Monitor C150, and Bronze 5, Gold 200 and PL200 II.
Munich High-End runs May 10-13.
