Meridian has published an 'Audio Secrets' guide for interior designers. The handbook offers an instant-expert overview of hi-fi and placement, "to build knowledge and awareness around key aspects of specifying the right sound system for client's projects."
To launch the Audio Secrets: Designers Handbook, the brand
partnered with RS AV Solutions, taking over its Digital Multi-Media
Lounge, located in the Muralto showroom in London's Portman
Village.
Allen Boothroyd, co-founder of Meridian and its design director
(pictured above), knows a thing or two about the aesthetics of
technology, having won three British Design Council Awards. "The
design philosophy that underlies Meridian systems is the
combination of ground-breaking functional performance with a
striking visual appeal," he says. "Aesthetics that make a bold
design statement, but one that's always in harmony with the
surroundings - whether that means elegant, curved loudspeaker
cabinets or in-wall loudspeakers where all the ingenuity is there -
but you can hear it rather than see it." Meridian recently launched
its first DSP in-wall speaker range for the custom install
market.
At the launch, timed to correspond with the 2012 London Design Festival, Allen showcased some of Meridian's iconic products, including the Lecson Audio system which was selected in 1976 for the New York Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) permanent collection.
The handbook comes in two parts. The first is a brochure that discusses Meridian philosophy, as well as key products "and criteria to be borne in mind during the design process." The second is a series of inserts that suggest typical Meridian systems for a range of applications; this covers everything from a compact hi-fi to a full-blown Meridian Digital Theatre. More resources for the design community are promised.
