AV driver developer Intrinsic Group, has launched a new initiative that it hopes will make the brand synonymous with reliability. Its new Intrinsic Connected standard identifies to both manufacturers and installers where a certified Intrinsic solution is available.

Intrinsic Connected drivers are available for Crestron, Control 4, Elan and RTI, and cover mainstream products from Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Philips Hue, Sky+ and SkyQ, as well as industry specific hardware from HDAnywhere, Heatmiser, Meridian, Naim, Sonos and Speakercraft. Manufacturers will be encouraged to display the Integrated by Intrinsic badge on products where an Intrinsic driver exists.

“Anyone can write code,” explains Will Hopkins, CEO, “but writing effective drivers for smart home integration products and applications demands real installation knowledge, controls know-how and practical experience.” He says all Intrinsic engineers have spent a minimum of five years in the field as product installers and system integrators. “This experience is critical in how we create and build Intrinsic Connected driver solutions. It’s why we’re acknowledged as the company behind the most reliable, best functioning and optimised drivers for AV integration on the market.”

When developing drivers for manufacturers, Intrinsic engineers build on their own insight into installer requirements to offer informed feedback, he adds.

The move will raise overall standards, says Rayner Sheridan, Director of Brand and Product Strategy at Meridian Audio. “Products which have low performance characteristics, but which are easy to integrate, are often substituted for their higher performing counterparts, when the key objective for the installer is to deliver a reliable and intuitive connected home. By using Intrinsic Connected drivers, installers can offer customers a no compromise solution that combines premium performance with ease of integration. Our recent 200 series of products - the Meridian 218, 251 and 271 - all now benefit from Intrinsic Connected drivers and they work exceedingly well.”

A deep understanding of real-world application and the needs of integrators is at the heart of Intrinsic’s success. In addition, the company views driver design and development as a connected, two-way process.
