McIntosh has refreshed its home theatre line with two new AV processors, the MX170 and MX123, and the MC255 five channel amplifier.

The top-end MX170 processor features eight HDMI inputs and 4 HDMI outputs, all support 18Gbps 4K and 4:4:4 colour spacing, with eARC (Enhanced Audio Return) functionality. HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG are also supported. Integrators will be pleased to see the provision of HDBaseT connectivity.

MX123 Hero

Codec coverage includes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro-3D. Set-up is via RoomPerfect room-correction EQ. The MX170 features balanced outputs for a 15.1 speaker configuration. Audio connectivity comprises four optical and three coaxial digital audio inputs, USB and one digital balanced input. There’s also a complete complement of analogue inputs, comprising two balanced and four unbalanced inputs, a phono input, plus a 7.1 multichannel unbalanced input.

The stablemate MX123 AV processor is a 13.2 design, with seven HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs. Audio connections cover four digital audio inputs; one balanced and eight unbalanced analogue stereo audio inputs, plus an unbalanced 7.1 multi-channel audio input; three component and four composite video inputs; USB and analogue composite and one component video outputs.

The MX123 is also IMAX Enhanced certified, with support for Apple AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth. Room calibration is via Audyssey MultEQ XT32.

The MC255 five channel Home Theater Amplifier features McIntosh’s new TripleView Power Output Meter. Instead of three separate meter windows each housing a single meter, as found on McIntosh previous five-channel amplifier, TripleView features three traditional mechanical meters in a single meter enclosure. With all channels driven, power output is rated at 200W.

The trio will ship in November. The MX170 will retail for £19,995; MX123 £9,995 and MC255 £9,995. Distribution is via Jordan Acoustics.
