McIntosh has unveiled a next-generation all-in-one wireless speaker system, optimised for streaming. The RS200 Wireless loudspeaker system opens the door to multiple streaming services, and is compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth 5.0. It also has Amazon Works With Alexa certification (which means it requires a third-party Alexa control device).
The system’s power output is rated at 650 watts, delivered to eight drivers. There are two bass drivers, four woofers and two tweeters. If you need deeper bass, there’s a dedicated subwoofer output.
Connections include HDMI with ARC and optical digital audio. Optional McIntosh Play-Fi-compatible RS100 wireless speakers can be added as surround channels.
The RS200 offers streaming support for AAC, Qualcomm aptX HD and Qualcomm aptX Low Latency. There’s also DNLA support. Compatibility with Play-Fi from DTS, opens the door to Amazon Prime Music, Qobuz, Spotify, TIDAL and Pandora.
Design is high, and embraces classic McIntosh design traits like a black glass front panel, illuminated logo, control knobs and blue Watt meters.
The McIntosh will retail for £3,495, when it lands in the UK March/April.
