Premium Hi-Fi brand McIntosh has announced a range of custom install products at ISE 2019. The new line comprises two Class D multi-channel amplifiers, plus in-ceiling and in-wall speakers.

The four-channel MI254 power amplifier is rated at 250W (into 8 Ohms), and the eight-channel MI128 120W). The former sports two blue McIntosh watt meters displaying the summed power output of channels 1 + 2 and channels 3 + 4. Both are 2U rack-mountable.

The MI254 has standard McIntosh five-way speaker binding posts, while the MI128 uses 2-pole Phoenix-style push-in speaker terminals. The latter also includes back panel volume controls for volume balancing, along with optical and coaxial digital inputs, plus channel-summing circuits for mono signal distribution.

Both have BUS input and outputs to distribute a stereo signal to multiple outputs or amplifiers, 12-volt triggering and eco-friendly on/off signal-sensing.

The new McIntosh CI speaker range comprises the WS500 and WS300 in-walls, plus the CS200 in-ceiling. A shallow woofer design allows the WS500 and WS300 to be just 93mm deep.

The WS500 sports two 165mm woofers, two 50mm inverted Titanium-dome midranges and one 19mm Titanium-dome tweeter, while the WS300 has one 200mm woofer, two 50mm inverted Titanium-dome midranges and one 19mm Titanium-dome tweeter.

The CS200 In-Ceiling Speaker features a 100mm woven glass fibre woofer, two 2-inch inverted Titanium-dome midranges and one 19mm Titanium-dome tweeter. Both midranges and tweeter can be rotated during installation.

Magnetic grilles are paintable.

The McIntosh MI254 is priced at £5,995; the MI128 £4,495; WS500 £2,995; WS300 £2,495, and CS200 £1,495.

Commenting on the introductions, Charlie Randall, McIntosh President and CEO said: “We are excited to return to the custom install category with these new amplifiers and speakers. Many of our traditional home audio products have been used for distributed audio applications by talented CI installers. We are happy to once again offer products specifically designed for custom installation.”

McIntosh is also using ISE 2019 to showcase its limited edition Seventieth Anniversary amplifiers, specifically the new MC2152 Vacuum Tube amplifier and C70 preamplifier. It’s also showing the XRT1.1K loudspeaker, a scaled-down version of the £137,500 XRT2.1K.
