Marantz has announced a new addition to its NR line of slimline receivers. The NR1200 is a two-channel network model with advanced connectivity, for those that want the multimedia functionality of an AV receiver, but don’t need multichannel sound.
The two-channel NR1200 features a newly designed 75 watt per channel amplification section. Featuring symmetrical left and right power amplifiers sharing a centralised power supply, wired independently from the circuits of the amplifier, preamplifier, wireless module and front display.
This isolation is said to improve channel separation and reduces crosstalk, for a more musical soundstage. The receiver features two separate DACs per channel.
It boasts five HDMI inputs, all supporting 4K Ultra HD 60Hz video, with 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling, HLG and HDR10 pass through. The receiver will automatically down-mix all surround formats to two channel.
There’s also Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) support, for Xbox One gamers, when connected with select TV models that also support ALLM.
There’s also a built-in DAB+ tuner, proprietary HDAM phono stage for turntables and Heos built-in, which brings access to Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal and TuneIn internet radio, as well as multi-room functionality with other Heos components.
Hi-Res Audio support covers ALAC, FLAC and WAV lossless files up to 24-bit/192-kHz, as well as DSD 2.8MHz/5.6MHz.
The NR1200 can also be used with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Siri voice control. Verbal commands can be used for music playback, volume control, track skipping and input selection. Wireless connectivity includesBluetooth and Apple AirPlay 2.
The Marantz NR1200 ships in September, priced at £599.
