Marantz has introduced the CD 60. a high performance CD player engineered, it says, to provide superior sound quality through advanced circuitry and premium components.

Tailor made to match the newly announced MODEL 40n integrated stereo amplifier, the CD 60 boasts the latest HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules) amplifier modules, which are utilised in the analogue output stage. Marantz says its new HDAM modules have been optimised to flow current more accurately resulting in significantly lower distortion at high frequencies than its predecessor.

The CD 60 can also play a wide variety of file formats from a USB storage device, including MP3, WMA, AAC and WAV, FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF (up to 192-kHz/24bit), and DSD (up to 5.6-MHz).

The CD 60 sports a reference-class D/A converter (up to 192kHz/24-bit and DSD 5.6MHz) for optimum musical fidelity with incredible clarity across all frequency ranges.

Users can choose between two filter options: Filter 1 delivers a gentle roll-off while Filter 2 provides a sharper roll-off for more precise imaging.

The CD 60 also offers the Marantz HDAM-SA2 high-performance headphone amp circuit, with three gain settings (Low/Mid/High) for a best match with almost any headphone. The headphone amplifier can be switched off when not in use.

"With so much attention devoted to the burgeoning vinyl market plus the popularity of streaming content, we sometimes forget that an entire generation of music lovers built sizable collections of beloved compact discs,” says Joel Sietsema, Marantz brand president. “Marantz was present at the dawn of CD technology with our original player, the CD 63. Now, the CD 60 reminds us why we fell in love with the format 40 years ago - delivering more warmth, musicality, and detail than any player in its class."

Available now, the Marantz CD 60 is priced at £749.
