Yokohama-based Hi-Fi specialist Luxman has released a new high-end CD player and media player for those music lovers cherishing physical media and high-res audio.

The £3,500 D-03X (an upgrade on the brand’s D-05u CD/SACD player) combines substantial build quality with support for MQA disc and music files. The MQA-CD format has found an enthusiastic audience in its home territory of Japan. MQA decoding status (Studio/Blue, Authentic/Green, Renderer/Red Purple) is indicated by three different colored LED indicators on the display.

The player sports a new steel top-plate and dedicated CD transport mechanism, consisting of an extremely thick aluminum mechanical base and a shielded box chassis, to improve accuracy and reduce noise when reading discs.

The deck’s DAC circuitry features dual Texas Instruments PCM1795 chips to handle high-resolution files. For optimum accuracy, independent left and right monaural mode DACs are used in conjunction with high-quality output amplification via fully balanced output circuitry.

In addition to isochronous transfer, the USB input supports Bulk Pet transfer, which reduces the load between sending and receiving, expanding the options for high-quality and stable file playback, says the company.
