Linn Audio has announced a new network music player. The all-in-one Kiko ships with two compact, fully active 2-way speakers, and is available in six finishes: white, light blue, black, silver, champagne and dark blue.
As you'd expect from Linn, build quality is high. The player and enclosures are made from single pieces of aluminium, for maximum rigidity and low resonance. Each speaker is driven by a 33w power amp module, with a digital crossover optimised to control the timing and output of each driver. Connectivity is generous and includes an Ethernet port, stereo phonos, coaxial and optical digital audio inputs, three HDMI inputs/one output, plus two high-quality four pole Neutrik Speakon speaker connectors.
Linn suggests that the Kiko is ideal for all home entertainment sources, from PCs and music servers to Blu-ray players and set top boxes. File compatibility is broad; there's support for FLAC, Apple Lossless, WAV, MP3, WMA, AIFF, AAC and OGG.
The Kiko is the latest hardware to benefit from the ground-breaking R&D Linn's carried out into network audio. It features a proprietary Dynamik switch mode power supply, along with streaming tech used in its other, award-winning network music players; all up-sampling is performed using custom algorithms. The company has also released a range of free iOS apps, including a new setup wizard and control apps, that allow any digital content to be accessed by smartphone, tablet or laptop.
The Kiko system retails for £2500.
