Future screen technology is looking anything but flat. LG Display has unveiled a range of rollable and foldable OLED screens, from 12- to 65-inches, as part of an online showcase of next-generation OLED technologies, organised for the 2020 Society for Information Display (SID) conference, being held online for SID members until August 7.

LG Display’s virtual showroom features two ‘zones’: an ‘Unlimited Design Freedom Zone’ which features new and innovative designs that OLED is capable of, and an ‘Enhanced User Experience Zone’ which demonstrates the lifestyle benefits proffered by the technology.

Next generation designs include a raft of foldable and transparent products, including both a 65-inch and 12.8-inch Rollable OLED, a 13.3-inch foldable OLED, 65-inch bendable OLED, and a 55-inch transparent OLED with 40 per cent transparency.

Meanwhile, in the user-experience zone, it’s demonstrating a 27-inch curved P-OLED for automotive dashboard, and a Digital Cockpit composed of a 12.3-inch Cinematic Sound OLED dashboard. It’s also touting the possible benefits of OLED AV/VR and a return to 3D.

The idea, it says, is to enable visitors to experience an innovative future life that OLED technology will bring about in online space.

“We will lead the innovation of future displays based on differentiated technology that only OLED can realise,” says Dr. In-Byeong Kang, Executive VP and CTO at LG Display.
