Krell has announced the K-300i, a next-generation integrated stereo amplifier with a host of cutting edge functionality.

The original KAV-300i was launched in 1999. It was hailed by the brand as the world’s first high-end integrated amplifier to offer audio performance similar to high-end separates.

The incoming K-300i is rated at 150 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms, or 300W into 4 Ohms, and incorporates a newly developed amplifier circuit design, with Krell iBias technology. This is said to provide the benefits of Class A operation without the high heat and power consumption associated with traditional Class A designs. Characteristics include an extended frequency response curve with smooth highs and dynamic bass delivery.

The amplifier is available in two configurations, one analogue, the other analogue/digital. With the digital option installed, the K-300i functions a high-end DAC able to support a range of digital music formats up to 192kHz/24-bit. An ESS Sabre Pro DAC handles the digital to analogue signal conversion. There’s support for UPnP music servers or NAS devices. The digital option also provides Spotify, vTuner Internet radio, Tidal, Deezer, and QoBuz streaming services, and is Roon Ready and MQA compatible.

Connectivity appears extensive. 4K capable HDMI 2.0 inputs and output are available for TV viewing. A USB host port is available on the front panel to play music from USB flash memory sticks and a USB device port is positioned on the rear panel for streaming music directly from a computer. Bluetooth support includes aptX.

Control options include 12V Trigger Input/ 12V Trigger Output, RC5, RS-232 and Ethernet. The K-300i also has an internal web server, optimised for tablets, for more intuitive control.

Due out August, the K-300i is available in a black or silver finish. The analogue-only version will sell for £4,698. The ‘digital’ iteration is £5,698. Distribution is via Absolute Sounds. Tel: 020 8971 3909
