German TV brand Loewe has teased the Bild X, a high concept TV that takes minimalism to the next level. Loewe's creative director Bodo Sperlein has mounted an OLED screen within a crafted steel frame, and removed the majority of electrical components, creating a modular viewing system which allows for umpteen variations on the theme.

The brand unveiled the Bild x concept at IFA in three different formats, with the frame on each available in either Amber Gold or Matt Black. The screen is suspended onto the frame via magnets, which Sperlein claims has been inspired by the way sails are attached to a mast. There are two designs, one with a polished black marble disc supporting pedestal, the other with a steel ‘cross’ design element within the frame.

Don’t expect to sit down and binge-watch anything just yet on one though. Loewe says it is currently experimenting with way to house the electronic components, and accommodate cable management solutions. It’s also developing a range of speaker options for the Bild X concept.

Earlier this year, LG introduced the W7, effectively a deconstructed OLED TV with separated electronics and a screen that could be wall hung using magnets and bespoke frame. It seems the design opportunities afforded by OLED panel technology have only just begun to be explored.
