Integrated Systems Europe’s 14th show welcomed 73,413 attendees from 177 countries at the RAI in Amsterdam. Of these, 41 per cent visited the technology show for the first time, a two per cent rise from last year. In addition over 26 per cent of the ‘first timers’ are integrators and installers.

Anyone that has been in the industry for a few years, and attended ISE, would agree that it’s a great place to meet familiar faces. However, with the event growing year-on-year, and with its very compelling training programs, it’s not surprising it attracts new faces too. This is the sign of a good and healthy industry.

ISE occupied the whole of Amsterdam’s RAI exhibition centre, with almost 1,200 exhibitors over 14 Halls. There were also education programmes from CEDIA, InfoComm and ISE’s own Show Floor Theatres running topical trainings.

For the CI industry, CEDIA’s had new one-day business courses, ‘Developing a Competitive Commercial Strategy for Your Business’ and ‘Consultative Selling Skills Training’, designed to arm attendees with the key tools required to maximize business opportunities and success in the home technology industry. The show has been extended to being fours days for a couple of years now. On average each new visitor to ISE 2017 spent 1.6 days at the show, slightly less than the time spent by returning attendees. Over 10 per cent of first time attendees at the show were ‘end users’, a key demographic for the exhibitor target audience.

According to ISE, 79 per cent of attendees said that they could recommend or authorise purchases. Almost 35 per cent of attendees were able to authorise or recommend expenditure of over €1,000,000 per annum. Only six per cent of attendees authorise expenditure of less than €10,000. The average unique sales leads generated by exhibitors is estimated to be just over 400.

However, one of the tricks to get new leads is to talk to new people, not just people you know,’ as HDAnywhere’s CEO Chris Pinder wisely advise his crew. HDAnywhere (HDA) is a good example of how the CI and AV business is operating in Europe. HDA has partnered with Germany-based PureLink formed OneAV, a pan-European AV connectivity distributor, supplying highly specialised products for commercial and residential markets. OneAV officially launched at ISE and its stand was permanently busy.

Wyrestorm's Director of Markeriting, Todd Akins agrees that ISE is a great place to meet with new people and also installers and integrartors that might use Wyrestorm technolgoy alredy. " Our message is that we do not force instlallers to adopt our technology, however, seeing the different options in one place, users can choose what makes more sence to them.'

Associations and alliances also came together for ISE, which allows visitors to find out about these in one place. There was a huge KNX area and within this Hall was also the Z Wave alliance and other smart home companies.

With 94 per cent of exhibitors being ‘sure’ or ‘very likely’ to re-book their spot for 2018, we better save the day for 6-9 February and hurry to book hotels and flights before prices rocket.
