British owned Hi-Fi company has unveiled Aurora, a designer all-in-one wireless music system.

With bamboo cabinet, aluminium frame and a custom array of drivers, the sound system bucks the trend for throwback aesthetics and monophonic sound. Instead it offers a trendy Japanese-inspired design and a wide stereo presentation, created by six drive units and two bass radiators.

Connectivity is via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The Aurora supports up to 32-bit/192kHz without conversion or downsampling either wirelessly or via Ethernet cable. Bluetooth codec support covers aptX HD, LDAC and LDHC. There’s also an optical input, allowing it to function as a TV sound system. The Aurora is UPnP/DLNA compliant.

Multiple Auroras can be linked together to create a multiroom system, either playing in-sync or controlled individually.

The Aurora is built around proprietary amp technology that iFi dubs ‘PureEmotion’ – a hybrid circuit design comprising a preamp that incorporates a Russian 6N3P valve (which is visible through a window on the front fascia), 32-bit ESS Sabre DAC and digital power amp. Total power output is rated at 320W.

There are four main 120mm drivers, firing from the front and side; twin 28mm silk-dome tweeters, and a pair of rectangular passive bass radiators which fire downwards from the underside of the cabinet.

Instead of DSP, the Aurora uses an analogue sound-tuning technology, called SoundSpace - It’s this which is credited with giving the system its expansive soundstage - coupled to an adaptive room correction system called ART (Automatic Room Tailoring), which uses six microphones to measure the distance to any surrounding walls.

Available from July, the Ifi Aurora retails for £1,299.
