Hisense has launched second generation ULED 4K TVs, opting to go flat rather than curved. ULED is a confection of local dimming, wide colour gamut and motion control technologies which Hisense claims is protected through 17 international patents. The M7000 range starts at £799 for a 55-inch H55M7000, rising to (just) £1,199 for the 65-inch model, the H65M700.

The 2160p sets are HDR enabled with advanced local dimming technology and use the brand’s own Smart platform driven by a quad core processor. Available over Ethernet or Wi-Fi, apps include BBC iPlayer, Amazon Video, 4K Netflix and Wuaki.tv. The screens have HEVC and VP9 codec support. There’s also a built-in web browser, plus Anyview Cast and Anyview Stream for integration with mobile devices. Media playback covers a wide range of file types and containers, including MKV, FLAC and WMV.

The screens have four HDMI inputs, two of which are HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2. Both models claim a dynamic contrast of 4000:1.
