Hi-Fi Cinema has picked up for the UK distribution rights for designer Danish loudspeaker maker Podspeakers. The retailer and distributor , based in Aldermaston, Berkshire, plans to relaunch the brand with a host of new products, including the new Minipod Mark IV and wireless connectivity models.
The original Minipod, first seen in the Nineties, challenged the idea of loudspeakers as square box cabinets. Originally designed to reduce the unwanted internal standing waves that create distortion within a loudspeaker enclosure, the speaker went onto to be regarded as a design statement in its own right. Alan Gornall from Hi-Fi Cinema said “Having successfully distributed Podspeakers under the Scandyna brand, we expect to make a big impact in a short space of time in the UK. The new Podspeakers have vastly improved build and sound quality featuring updated drive units and cabinets. Demand is high for this iconic design and we are very excited to working with this innovative brand.”
Podspeakers was acquired by EET Group in 2016. The group has developed a new product range, modernising production and refining components. The new Podspeaker range offers a range of new finishes and accessories.
Commenting on the recent distribution deal, Brian Larson from EET said “Hi-Fi Cinema is the perfect distributor for Podspeakers in the UK. Its past knowledge of the brand combined with its insight of the UK market is ideal to hit the ground running. We are excited to work with them and look forward to seeing the new improved Podspeakers back in retailers throughout the UK.”
